Dusk Network is a layer-1 blockchain platform designed to enable programmable and confidential securities through Zero-Knowledge proofs. Its primary goal is to become a leading privacy blockchain for financial applications while addressing the needs and requirements of modern financial markets.
Key Features of Dusk Network:
Direct Settlement Finality: The platform ensures rapid transactions, with each taking only seconds to complete and achieving immediate on-chain finality.
Privacy: Dusk Network employs advanced encryption techniques and Zero-Knowledge primitives to provide complete user privacy and enable decentralized applications within the generalized compute layer.
Public Accessibility: Users can access and utilize the Dusk Network without needing permission from a trusted authority.
DUSK, the network’s native cryptocurrency, enables businesses to pay for network services, run or deploy smart contracts, and transfer XSC or DUSK-based security tokens. XSC, a confidential smart contract, offers compliance with security regulations and various functionalities that businesses and enterprises can leverage to issue security tokens.
Since its inception in 2018, Dusk Network has focused on enabling widespread business adoption for financial applications and services. The platform’s development is planned in four distinct phases, each focusing on different aspects of the product:
- Daybreak: This phase introduced the public testnet in March 2022, featuring groundbreaking technologies such as the Segregated Byzantine Agreement, Succinct Attestation (SA) agreement, Kadcast, and Phoenix.
- Daylight: Currently in progress, this phase aims to decentralize the network and develop a stable version of RUSK VM, with native zero-knowledge operations for transactions and gas accounting. Daylight will also introduce a Web Wallet for a more user-friendly interaction with the network.
- Alba: Following decentralization, Alba will concentrate on confidential smart contracts. Developers will be able to create privacy-preserving applications using the Confidential Token Standard (XS) and an easy-to-use development toolkit to deploy simple confidential tokens.
- Aurora: The final phase will focus on security tokens and their associated functionalities, such as on-chain compliance frameworks, whitelisting capabilities, and life-cycle management tools. Aurora is expected to deliver on all promises made by Dusk Network.
Although the mainnet and user-friendly infrastructure projects are still under development, Dusk Network continues to make progress, with its native token already deployed on the Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain networks. As the platform moves through its development phases, it has the potential to revolutionize the way businesses and financial institutions interact with blockchain technology.
