The Importance of Crypto News Sites
Now more than ever, finding trustable news sites is critical. The growth of crypto brings new participants into the crypto markets, consisting of good and bad actors; hence, it is essential to stay updated on the current crypto news and markets.
Many highly respected platforms cover crypto news and updates in the space. However, these are the ones you have found to be the most effective. Here are the results of the Moon Awards of 2022.
Top 3 Crypto News Sites of 2022
1 ) CoinTelegraph
CoinTelegraph has maintained its dominance in the crypto news sites field. They come in 1st place again with nearly 40% of the total votes in our survey. Launched in 2013, CoinTelegraph is one of the leading independent digital media companies in crypto.
Their editorial content is diverse and an all-in-one go-to news platform. They cover the most up-to-date news, crypto price charts, technology breakthroughs, and other exciting topics.
As mentioned in last year’s Moon Awards, their design team has produced well-known artwork for their articles. This has helped make Cointelegraph unique compared to others in the crypto news sites industry.
Their team is spread worldwide in countries such as the United States, Canada, France, Spain, Latvia, Italy, South Africa, Germany, and United Kingdom. The differences in location and time zones have allowed Cointelegraph to deliver accurate and up-to-date news.
In addition, since the members have different cultures and backgrounds, it has allowed them to grow their market share internationally. Languages available include English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and many more.
2) CoinDesk
CoinDesk also has maintained its popularity among many, arriving in 2nd place again with 30% of the total votes. They were founded in 2013 alongside Cointelegraph. They have become one of the largest glocal financial media websites in today’s crypto industry.
The platform covers various topics, including editorial news, events, webinars, podcasts, data, and indices for its viewers. Their journalists are featured in other media pages such as Bloomberg, Business Insider, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal. Moreover, CoinDesk has acquired TradeBlock, the leading provider of indices and trading tools for digital currencies. This has allowed them to launch CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (XBX), a spot reference rate for Bitcoin.
CoinDesk has attracted attention for hosting the first global crypto and blockchain conference in 2015, Consensus. This conference has allowed them to gain trust among many as they host notable individuals in the crypto community to speak. Consensus 2022 will be located in Austin, Texas, from June 9th to June 12th this year. A few speakers include the founders and CEOs of FTX, Binance, Ark Invest, PayPal, and many more well-known entrepreneurs. CoinDesk has estimated over 15k attendees, 300+ speakers, and over 250 sponsors for the upcoming Consensus event.
3) Decrypt
Decrypt has climbed the ranks since our poll last year, receiving 3rd place with 13% of votes. Founded in 2018, its mission was to demystify the decentralized web. The team is located in several locations around the world. Though most are based in the United States, some reside in countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, and France.
Their site is dedicated to helping people understand the different topics in the crypto space. These sub-sections include news, learning, features, reviews, videos, and coins. Each section has new publications and updates daily or weekly for its viewers.
Alongside their website is their own Decrypt mobile app available for iOS and Android users. Currently, Cointelegraph and CoinDesk do not have an app allowing Decrypt to make its presence known to mobile users. They claim that 80% of its viewership is on mobile devices.
Decrypt follows four simple rules for all its publications: simplify, simplify, simplify, focus on storytelling, tell the truth, and use web3 to cover web3. These principles have made them one of the most notable news platform sites today. In 2020, they were said to have grown their audience 20X.
Honorable Mention: Bloomberg Crypto
Bloomberg Crypto came 4th in our polls for the best crypto news sites. Bloomberg was founded back in 1981 in New York, New York providing real-time market data and analytics. Bloomberg crypto is a new genre offering the same news and data for crypto investors and enthusiasts.
They monitor and cover decentralized finance, NFTS, regulation, and technology. However, it mainly focuses on stories that garner the most attention. Bloomberg Crypto offers a newsletter for users to subscribe to, sending them current updates twice a week.
In all, Bloomberg has been in this media industry for a long time providing its subscribers with real-time news and market data. As crypto continues to grow, we expect them to emphasize their crypto news and reports more.
