Top 5 Twitter Accounts of 2022
1) Michael Saylor
Arriving in 1st place as the Best Crypto Twitter account category with just under 25% of the total vote is Microstrategy founder and CEO Michael Saylor. Saylor is such a vocal supporter of Bitcoin that he is sometimes jokingly referred to as the “CEO of Bitcoin.”
With over 2 million followers, Saylor has used his massive platform to advocate for bitcoin and Microstrategy’s investment in bitcoin. Microstrategy was the first major public company to put its treasury assets into Bitcoin.
As one of Bitcoin’s most prominent advocates and investors globally, Saylor is focused on paving the way for Bitcoin’s institutional adoption. As a result, much of his Twitter content is focused on comparisons and thoughts regarding the relationship between Bitcoin, digital gold, scarcity, the US dollar devaluation, and digital investment strategies.
2) Vitalik Buterin
Arriving in 2nd place as the Best Crypto Twitter account is Vitalik Buterin. Vitalik is a Russian-born Canadian programmer and writer who is best known as one of the co-founders of Ethereum. Buterin became involved with cryptocurrency early in its inception, and he even co-founded Bitcoin Magazine in 2011.
As Ethereum’s creator, Vitalik’s Twitter is filled with Ethereum network updates, thoughtful / technical articles, and recently political commentary regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Along with being active on Twitter, Vitalik has participated in numerous podcasts and speaking events. Outside of Ethereum, Vitalik is additionally interested in anti-aging technology and journalism.
For Ethereum’s future, Vitalik believes that zk-SNARKs will be the most extensively deployed privacy-preserving technology in the next 30 years. Buterin thinks it will be “a big revolution” as it spreads into the mainstream over the next 10-20 years.
3) Anthony Pompliano
After being slightly edged out for 2nd place in our crypto Twitter account list, Anthony “Pomp” Pompliano arrives in a strong 3rd place. Pomp is no stranger to the Moon Awards, as he earned the top spot in our category of Best Crypto Newsletters of 2022.
Wherever you look in crypto, you can find Pomp’s fingerprint as he is a founder and partner at Morgan Creek Digital, author of a daily newsletter to institutional investors, and host of The Pomp Podcast.
Pomp is an icon in crypto, and his Twitter account with around 1.5 million followers always makes waves across the crypto space. Interestingly enough, Pomp held positions at Snapchat and Facebook, which is why he is social media savvy.
Famous for his “Week in Crypto” and “Long bitcoin, short bankers” tweets, Pomp’s Twitter has become popular enough to feature him on CNBC and Bloomberg. You can always look to Pomp for up-to-date information and an optimistic take on the market.

Our honorable mention is Changpend Zhao. CZ is the CEO of the popular crypto exchange Binance. Binance is the top crypto exchange in the current Moon Awards category: Best Crypto Exchanges of 2022.
With over 5.3 million followers, CZ has a massive platform on Twitter, which the success of Binance has propelled. After just 180 days post-launch, Binance became the largest crypto exchange globally. Currently, Binance claims to have over 25% of the market share in trading volume.
Originally born in the Jiangsu province in China, CZ moved his family to Canada, where he gained Canadian citizenship. Eventually, CZ returned to China, where he currently resides.
Some have begun to refer to CZ as the “Bill Gates of the crypto industry” as he has pushed the crypto industry forward through his economic and social culture commentary. CZ routinely fills massive venues with his talks on the importance of decentralization and the freedom of money.
