ClockWork Labs is combining the depth of No Mans Sky with the fun of World of War Craft in their new AAA title, BitCraft. Created as a community sandbox mmorpg, BitCraft takes place in a single unsharded world where cooperation is emphasized in this ever-expanding world.
Why we like it
Rather than focus on combat-centric playstyles and competitive gameplay BitCraft is creating a collaborative sandbox mmorpg where the user ultimately decides on the playstyle they enjoy while also being a part of a bigger community. Instead of a typical “mage” or “warrior” class in traditional mmorpgs, players of BitCraft are incentivized to specialize in one profession to cater to the greater population. For example, some skills already implemented include: Forestry, Carpentry, Masonry, Mining, Smithing, Exploration, Hunting, Farming, Cooking. According to the founder of ClockWork, “the gameplay is very much about the journey…we are designing each skill to have potentially years of content…this kind of per-skill long-term progression is critical to designing a game world which is resilient to coolness inflation”.
Investors
ClockWork Labs has raised $22 million with Andreessen Horowitz leading the round. Other investors include Unity Co Founder, David Helgason and SuperCell CEO Hilmar Petursson.
Team
Clockwork labs is a 15 person team headquartered in San Francisco, CA. The teams prior experience includes employment at Bloomberg, Apple, and Zoic Studios.

EFAS is a 20-person team dedicated to bring the best gaming experience to decentralized communities. Notable work experience comes from WeVR, GameLoft, Riot Games, and Disney Interactive.
