Clover is a powerful smart contract platform that enables Ethereum developers and projects to migrate their contracts onto Polkadot. By minimizing the changes required to run existing Solidity smart contracts on the new network, Ethereum projects can simply replicate their dApp and deploy it to Clover using MetaMask, Truffle, Remix, and other familiar tools. Clover aims to become the very first noncustodial bridge in this space. The team has redesigned Clover’s payment scheme to increase ease of use for ordinary consumers as well. For example, Clover has a dynamic fee schedule that increases costs proportionally to use. Clover has received Web3Foundation grants and partnered with a number of ethereum based projects to bridge them to the Polkadot ecosystem. They have also recently closed a $3M seed round from prominent VC’s like Polychain. Clover is well placed to take advantage of the upcoming Bitcoin protocol upgrade (pending community approval) which will enable bridging Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchains. Clover looks promising with good code quality and active GitHub, however, It is still in the early stages of development and there are a few moving parts that need to come along to fully realise the cross-chain bridge proposition.
