LonelyPop is an NFT collection by artist Noinah and web3 development collective 0xStudio.  The collection of 10,000 NFTs centers its community around the artistic expression of loneliness and looking out for each other’s mental health.  Before its launch LonelyPop was one of the most hyped NFT projects in the space, gaining followers such as Steve Aoki, noodle, Andrew Wang, and the CEO of 9GAG.  Since its release, the project has underperformed the expectations of most, but a community centered around mental health could be exactly what people need to get through a bear market.

Team:

In total, the LonelyPops website lists a team of 10 in total, most of whom are employed by 0xStudio.  0xStudio describes itself as an artist-first web3-as-a-service and a web3 brand incubator.  Their team includes an ex-Google employee, a DeFi fund manager, a full-stack developer, and more. 

Utility:

    LonelyPop promises very little in terms of utility.  Eventually, they have plans to build a brand and bridge the web2 and web3 worlds.  Collaborations to achieve this goal are already in place according to the LonelyPops team.       

Social Media Metrics:

Twitter is the main channel for LonelyPops, on the platform they’ve reached over 103,000 followers.  On Discord, they have a cool 58,000 members in their channel.

POTATOZ By 9GAG – PFP

On May 12, we discussed a project called MEMELAND by the satirical media website 9GAG. MEMELAND is essentially the NFT/Web3 arm of 9GAG. On June 17, they released a collection of 420 pixelated trophies called “YOU THE REAL MVP,” an allusion to NBA player Kevin Durant’s famous speech after being awarded the league’s highest individual honor. The MVP collection gives holders two free mints for the main MEMELAND collection and allowlist for all 9GAG/Memeland collections. The floor price of the MVP collection is now 23.8 ETH.

Luckily for us, 9GAG recently announced a free drop called POTATOZ coming this month. POTATOZ is a collection of 9,999 pixelated *wait for it* potatoes. Of the 9,999 NFTs, 6,900 will be allocated to winners of the raffle happening on permit.xyz, which you can sign up for here. Other than that, little is known about the POTATOZ project except that it will somehow tie into the main MEMELAND collection.     

Team:

9GAG is backed by some of the strongest advisors and investors in the web2 and web3 spaces.  The MEMELAND website lists a total of 24 investors/advisors including but not limited to Kevin Rose from Moonbirds, Naval Ravikant, Gary Vaynerchuck, Y Combinator, and First Round Capital.  The team at 9GAG has built a global audience of over 200 million since launching in 2008.         

Utility:

The utility of POTATOZ is to be announced.

The 9GAG team has been building communities for over 10 years, it is no surprise they built their MEMELAND Twitter following to nearly 400,000 and their Discord to over 300,000.
