Lootrush is a blockchain-agnostic platform for play-to-earn gaming. It seeks to lower the barrier of entry by providing a Steam-like marketplace for NFT rentals for blockchain games. So far, Axie Infinity is the only game available but there are plans to add more titles such as CryptoKitties and NBA Top Shot.
Why we like it
LootRush significantly lowers the barrier of entry for play-to-earn games. In order to cultivate mass adoption of blockchain gaming, it needs to be as or more accessible than traditional video games. This framework allows for a more affordable, user-friendly experience for players. The goal of Lootrush is to make play-to-earn gaming as simple as playing a game on Steam. LootRush’s platform allows players to rent gaming NFTs, similar to a trial run, which will allow users to play a variety of games without worrying about purchasing expensive NFTs.
Investors
LootRush has raised a total of $12m in a recent seed round. Notable investors included Andreessen Horowitz, Paradigm, Y Combinator, and angel investors from Axie Infinity, Plaid, Wildlife Studios, and Dapper Labs.
Team
LootRush currently features a 12-person team. The team has notable experience from Squarespace, Yext, Citi, Brex, Protocol Labs, and Facebook.

Cometh is a blockchain-based strategy / role-playing game. Players can engage in several activities including mining, piracy, manufacturing, trade, exploration, politics, and combat. Cometh uses DeFi services to foster the sustainability of the internal ecosystem, as well as to expose players to third-party DeFi applications. Cometh runs on Ethereum and Polygon.
Why we like it
As mentioned above, blockchain gaming needs to be easily accessible to cultivate widespread adoption. In addition to that, the games need to be enjoyable. Cometh provides an enjoyable experience and a free-to-play game (Cometh Battle) where users can earn real-life assets for winning in-game battles. In addition, Cometh hosts a pseudo-eSports experience with monthly championships, as well as leagues and tournaments for players to compete for prizes. So far, Cometh has awarded over $1m in prizes.
Investors
Cometh raised $10m recently in a private seed round. Notable investors include Ubisoft Entertainment (the developers of Assassin’s Creed, Tom Clancy’s Rainbox Six, and the Far Cry series), IDEO CoLab Ventures, and 6th Man Ventures.
